aN OVERVIEW OF MICRONEEDLING

Unfortunately, there is simply no way to avoid the elements that cause our skin to become rougher, dryer, and looser with age. Microneedling provides a solution to rejuvenate and restore the skin by triggering its own natural healing capabilities. More specifically, this procedure will trigger cell regeneration and collagen production to smooth and soften the skin. Combined with PRP, you can see even more dramatic results.

SkinPen microneedling works by causing microdamage on the surface of the skin, which triggers a healing response. As a result, the skin will produce more new cells as well as more collagen. In the weeks following your treatment, you’ll notice gradual improvement in the skin’s appearance.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A consultation can determine whether microneedling is right for you. During your session, we’ll provide an overview of the procedure and then encourage you to ask any questions you may have. The process isn’t painful, a topical anesthetic is applied for comfort. During treatment, the provider will move a pen-like device (SkinPen) over the skin to create thousands of very tiny micro-punctures to target natural collagen and promote your body's natural healing process. After your treatment you may notice redness or inflammation, which is totally normal and should subside within 24-48 hours. You may choose to have regularly scheduled microneedling treatments for maintenance & continual skin improvements. However, a single treatment can yield amazing results as well. Our team will help you determine the right course of treatment for your desired outcome.

PRIMARY treatment areas

Microneedling is primarily used on the face, where it can treat a wide range of cosmetic concerns, such as the following:

  • Scars

  • Wrinkles

  • Large pores

  • Dull, dry skin

  • Sagging skin

  • Stretch marks

HOW IT WORKS:

Phase I : Inflammation

Millions of controlled microchannels will be created in the skin, triggering your skin to cleanse the wound, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

Phase II : Proliferation

The skin rebuilds the "wound area" with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix, and creates a new network of blood vessels too.

Phase III : Remodeling

The "wounded" skin is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels, providing regenerated, refreshed skin - naturally.

COMBINING MICRONEEDLING with PRP THERAPY

Microneedling can be done as a solo treatment. However, it can also be done in combination with PRP therapy. PRP refers to platelet-rich plasma injections, which have been used extensively in medical treatments, such as in sports medicine. For medical purposes, PRP is thought to support the healing process. When used in a cosmetic setting, PRP therapy can dramatically improve skin tone and texture, stimulate the production of collagen and new skin cells, and subsequently minimize the appearance of scars and fine lines. The result is a more radiant, youthful complexion. If we determine that PRP therapy is appropriate for you, a small sample of your own blood will be drawn. This is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which is then injected into the treatment area.

Safety & Precautions

While microneedling has a strong safety profile, we always ask for a patient’s full health history to make sure it’s an appropriate treatment. Microneedling may not be appropriate for women who are pregnant, people who use certain acne medications, and those with a history of certain skin conditions. Here at Vanity Lounge, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. Thus, we will not recommend this treatment if you are not an ideal candidate.
